How do you successfully Market an RV Campground in 2022?

Camping and RVing are a major part of the US economy but there has been an exceptional increase of full time campers in the past 5 years. Campgrounds are the backbone of the RV and camping industry and so many campgrounds are missing out on serious money because they are missing essential marketing efforts that are really easy to overlook.

In 2019, only 4% of camping households were new campers. In 2020, that number surged to 21%. There are more campers than ever! Camping trips made by households have increased from 68.5 million in 2014 to 105.6 million in 2021. That's a 64.9% increase!

There is so much money just waiting for you to grab and marketing efforts are always tax deductible! It's a win win. All you have to do is hire me to bring that money in for you.

Below are 4 essential non-negotiable marketing efforts that you need to have a successful RV Campground in 2022:

Branded Website

This is the first thing that you need to have as a campground. I can't tell you how many campgrounds I (or my friends) haven't gone to because there was no website with pictures, information about amenities and calendar with events.

Gone are the days that businesses of any kind can go without a website. People are invested in your brand, make the first impression right with a well created website.

You will need to make sure the website is Search Engine Optimized for that great organic traffic. You can hire us for this or work through our simple DIY SEO program.

Online Reservations

I understand that online reservation systems can be expensive but you are missing so many reservations by not having this.

I often find myself making reservations after open hours for either overnights or an extended time.

I never pick a campground that does not have online reservation. I know I'm not the only camper that needs this feature. Plus you literally don't have to do anything!

Ask for reviews

I have not once been asked by a campground for a review! Not once in my two years, such a missed opportunity.

Most campgrounds have to give you a map and more information about the campground but no reviews. You need to build your reviews!

You can offer half off one day or something simple to get people to review your campground. As you gain reviews, you will progress higher in rankings over your competition.

Email Marketing

You need the campers email information to register their lot, this is an excellent opportunity to feed them into an email marketing loop.

This is how you get people to stay longer and more often.

Summer time is such a busy season and a lot of people are go to the same campgrounds that they created fun memories in. Plan a lot of fun activities in your campground and send an email out in March about all these events so they chose your campground over your competition.

How are you making the most out of this season?

Not everyone is on the road during ever season and there are many different ways to attract those that are on the road to come to your RV Campground. I have a few tips on creating a fun experience and you make more money every season.

Autumn

Autumn is the most beautiful season and a wonderful time for camping. A great way to showcase that beauty and make some extra money is by photographing it. Keepsakes like postcards, t-shirts and mugs can be emblazoned with your images and cherished forever by campers. This is a good way to grab camper's addresses too. You will need to get their current home address to send them their mugs.

Winter

Winter isn't everyone's favorite season but it is the most wonderful time of the year. Holiday ornaments and decorations are just one way you can spread cheer and make some extra cash.

If your campground is in a part of the country that gets cold, you probably already have firewood available but, for most campers, it's all about what's roasting on top of the bonfire. Having marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars is a perfect way to make a little extra money and make your campground just that much sweeter.

Summer

Though Summer is definitely the best season of all, some folks just can't take the heat. An often overlooked part of RV'ing during this season is how much heat comes through the windows. Having reflective window coverings available for purchase can make a huge difference for a family trying to stay cool.

Many RV's also do not come equipped with an ice maker and even the best coolers will eventually be full of melted ice. Having ice for sale at a campground is a great way to bring in extra money in the summertime. If you're keeping ice frozen, you can also keep popsicles frozen which are a great treat for campers of all ages.

Spring

In like a lion and out like a lamb. A day of camping can be totally ruined by those roaring spring storms. However, if your campers have the option to buy their family a set of ponchos at their campground so that they can still enjoy their trip, you've just saved the day and made some extra cash in the process.

If you enjoy gardening you might also consider selling bouquets of flowers or fresh veggies around this time of year.

Having weddings are your campground would also bring in quite a bit of money.
